The proposed institute would offer specialized training
to persons working in the front lines of college access work. Content would
focus on financial aid, effective practices, fundraising and sustainability,
needs of special audiences, college admissions, counseling skills, and more.
The institute would consist of four online courses
(delivered asynchronously) for a total of 12 university credits (graduate or
undergraduate, depending upon the student).
Intended audiences include those already working in the
field, graduate students in education and human services who have an
interest in college access work, and school counselors.
Completion of two courses would lead to certification as
a college access practitioner, and completion of four courses would lead to
certification as a certified college access professional or (for school
counselors) certified college access counselor.
