Annotation:How do Pell Grants affect the academic success of low-income community college students? This research brief assesses how well low-income community college students succeeded in meeting their academic goals and whether or not receiving a federal Pell Grant influenced their success. Using data from the California Community College Chancellor’s Office on several cohorts of low-income, transfer-oriented students, this report analyzed demographic and outcome data for two groups of students: those who began in 2000-01 and their academic outcomes three and six years later and those who began in 2003-04 and their outcomes three years later.
