Annotation:This report identifies the number of Carnegie units or specific courses in mathematics that students must complete to earn the standard high school diploma in their state. Two trends are clear: states are increasingly requiring students to complete four years of math in high school, and are beginning to require students to complete a math course each year of high school, to ensure students earning high school math credit before grade 9 are engaged in rigorous math content their final year of high school.
