Title:Healthier and wealthier: Decreasing healthcare costs by increasing educational attainment
Source:http://www.all4ed.org/publications/HandW.pdf
Date:2006
Organization:Alliance For Excellent Education
Short Description:If the approximately 1.2 million young people estimated to drop out of school in the US this year earned diplomas, states could save more than $17 billion in healthcare costs over the course of those young people’s lifetimes.
Annotation:If the approximately 1.2 million young people estimated to drop out of school in the US this year earned diplomas, states could save more than $17 billion in healthcare costs over the course of those young people’s lifetimes. Furthermore, similar savings could accrue for every class of high school students who graduate rather than drop out, producing an annual repetition of the boon to our nation’s coffers. These savings would also translate into better health and improved life prospects for the nation’s citizens.
